What I Do

I believe that work feeds life and life feeds work. Sometimes the boundary between the two gets a little blurred, but the idea of a firewall between work and life is probably as outdated as penny loafers. My ideal is to be completely, 100% intellectually and emotionally engaged in what I'm doing. So far I've been lucky in both work and in life.

Hawthorn

House

Hammer and Nails

The house was built in 1907 by a minister. He sold it in the late 30's to a family who had two daughters, one of whom never married and didn't have children. She--the daughter--sold the house to us when she was ready to move into a retirement home. When the selling agent told her that the roof might be a problem for any new buyers, her response was, "But I just put the roof on." When the agent asked when she put the roof on, she said that it was new in 1984.

Rob

May I Introduce My Husband?

In June, I married Rob Off. He's my ideal man--kind, strong, emotional, capable, practical, talented, sexy, intelligent, and clean. For work, he runs a design/build shop specializing in custom objects for the advertising industry. Ever wonder who made those influencer packs everybody's talking about? He did, and they're flippin' cool.

Here he is, on the way to the hot springs, somewhere in Wyoming on the road trip that brought him out to Oregon to live.

Tango

and Swing

When it's good, it's great

I used to dance more than I do now, but, regardless of how much time I spend on the dance floor, I have a deep and abiding love for tango and swing. They're built for two different moods--swing is like butterflies, tango is like cheesecake. There's nothing better than a good dance. If the dance lasts 3 minutes and 22 seconds, a good dance is 3 minutes and 22 seconds of immortality.

This video is swing pyrotechnics. I find myself wondering how much she weighs. I'm not posting a tango video because I find that it's harder to see tango than it is to see swing. That is, tango is experienced from the inside.
